Coach Bret Bentz
Recreation Director – City of Pass Christian
“Small Town, Big Dreams”
Coach Bret Bentz has proudly served as the City of Pass Christian’s Recreation Director for over 13 years. With 5 years of high school football coaching and 2 years of middle school baseball experience, he brings a passion for youth development and community involvement to every program.
During his time as director, Coach Bentz has overseen major improvements to city facilities — including a $1 million football complex, new basketball and pickleball courts, a city splash pad, updated playgrounds, and enhanced tennis courts. He also brought in a city tennis pro who offers lessons and gives back to the department.
Under his leadership, Pass Christian Recreation has achieved remarkable program success:
-
Raiders Youth Football: 18x Super Bowl Champs, 23x Western Conference Champs
-
Cheerleading: 2x Competition Champions (2023–2024)
-
Softball: 3x USA Softball South State Champs
-
Basketball: 4x Conference Champs
-
Adult Kickball: Annual Gulf Coast tournament favorite
-
Tennis: Only city in the area to offer youth tennis
Coach Bentz has also provided unforgettable experiences — taking families to Saints games and giving local athletes the chance to play in the Superdome, Tiger Stadium, and even with the New Orleans Pelicans program.
“Youth sports are changing every year, and each season we adapt and grow. Our goal is to help kids succeed both on and off the field.”
